Trip and Arrival to Terrebonne

 01 April-08 April 2021

After saying our good-bys to friends at Nellis AFB-Desert Eagle Campground, we departed for our trip back to Oregon via Hawthorne and Winnemucca,NV with a stop in Burns OR before arriving Redmond,OR on the 6th.

The drive takes us on Hwy 95N..300 miles to Hawthorne,NV and Whiskey Flats RV park..the only place to stay even though a long drive. We had hour delay due to road construction. The park is very nice with pull-thru sites and easy access off 95. Just north of town is Walker lake, a scenic area and sometimes you can spot wildlife on the cliffs.

Our next stop..200 miles via 95 was Winnemucca,NV at New Frontier RV..again a very nice park..our 2nd visit. Enroute an Amazon semi had jackknifed and blocked the road.We will be here 2 nights. Area we are in seems to be for short stays and as the day progressed several more RV's came in. Did laundry and ate dinner at Winger's..adjacent to campground. Salmon tacos delicious.

Another 200 miles to Burns,OR and stop at Burns RV for 1 night. We could have driven to Redmond, but winds were fierce. It seems to be only stopping park in area and we have stayed here in the past. On the way, we heard this terrific noise 20 miles north of Winnemucca. Thought at first we had blown a tire or lost something on top. So we pulled over and John got out to see what was going on and discover that the gale force winds from the west had caused our slideout awning to billow. Fortunately we were able to pull into a Sinclair station a few miles up the road and pull beside the building for shelter. He extended the slide and was able to reposition it and bring the awning in.

At any rate, we arrived at the campground, only to connect electric as temps are getting in the teens tonight and the wind is fierce.

Drive to Redmond was only 130 miles via 95 to 78 and 20. Had a beautiful view of mountains as we were approaching Bend. Arrived at Expo RV park next to Deschutes Fairgrounds for 2 nights before moving to Hope and Shawn's for our stay until the 29th. This is our 2nd stay and the park is very nice.

After checking in, drove out to Hope's in Terrebonne to check out our site and visit. Shawn put in a new electrical system for us and future use for them as well. So we will have electric and water and use their facilities. Besides family, we will have the company of 3 horses, 2 heifers (one is with calf) ,a steer and 2 pigs. Colt will be showing his steer at fair and Cade the pigs.
