Arrival St George UT

A short 50 mile drive down IH 15 from Cedar City to St George,UT to Temple View RV Park our home until the 1 November.

The site we were assigned #187 was not compatible for Motorhomes as you could not put slides out due to location of hookups. So they moved us to site 257 which was much better. This is a full service resort with nice clubhouse, laundry, fitness center, pool etc. The downside as is so often in these large  parks, the spaces are so close together. We are in area across from the office but glad they found us a better space. The park is clean and staff very helpful. The park is very convenient to restaurants, historic downtown and shopping. Of course it is unrealistic to think that the ideal park would have sites 60 ft long, level, full hookups with 50amp and 20 feet between sites plus all the amenities. At any rate I thank the staff for accommodation us in a better site.

After settling in we drove the short distance to the Visitor Center on North Main in the Historic District for touring info.St George is a very clean and un-congested area with many housing developments and tourist attractions. Also very friendly.

There is a Historic downtown walking tour I want to do while here. Near the Visitor Center saw some of the many iron sculptures. Stopped at the Pioneer Courthouse for photo and the Pioneer Museum. No photos allowed in the Museum.Then walked around the Temple Grounds. What a magnificent Temple. It is the first Temple completed in Utah. Unfortunately Mormon Temples are not open to the public, only the Tabernacles.

St George is located in the southwestern part of the state near Arizona and Nevada with a metropolitan  population of 156,000.  It is the fastest growing city in the US. The area is surrounded by beautiful red cliffs due to the iron oxide. Present also are yellow,grey and brown rock formations. It is a large retirement area with temperate climate. Frankly it is one of our favorite areas in Utah.
