Tonight we had an early dinner at Martin's Basque Restaurant and hotel established in 1898 which was recommended by our good friend, Rose Mary.Be sure you take a hungry appetite as the food is served family style starting with carafe of red wine, hearty vegetable soup, tossed salad with side of pinto beans, then corn, mashed potatoes and hominy with peppers and spices, For the entree I chose salmon and John shrimp. Dessert was bread pudding with whipped cream. All this for $27/ea.Fare was delicious and interesting with very good service. Thank you Rose Mary for suggesting.

The hotel was once a rooming house frequented by area cattle ranchers to stay on their trips to town. Passengers on the Southern Pacific Railroad frequented the restaurant.
