A three park day visiting Eagle Canyon, Ouimet Canyon and Sleeping Giant PP. All parks are within an hours drive from Thunder Bay.
Eagle Canyon features Canada's longest Zip Line and longest suspension bridges. The shorter bridge spans 300 feet across and 125 feet from the canyon bottom. The longer bridge extends 600 feet and hangs at a height of 152 above the canyon. Crossing the bridges you view a spring-fed lake and mountain range. If you are a hiker, you can descend the stairs to the bottom and hike along the shoreline.

Although we did not do the zip line, it is the longest, highest and fastest in Canada. It is 1/2 mile long, 175 feet high and reaches speeds of 45mph taking 60 seconds. Hope you and grandsons would love this.

5 miles away we went to Ouimet Canyon for viewing the Canyon from 2 overlooks. It is around a 1 mile rt. Would love to see this in the Spring after the thaw and the rushing water on the canyon floor. From the lookouts, the terrain drops 100 metres to the floor with the gorge 150 metres wide. To protect the fragile plants, access to the floor is banned.

Our last stop of the day was Sleeping Giant PP to view the "Sleeping Giant" and Thunder Bay. The park is on the north shore of Lake Superior. From Thunder Bay you see a large stone figure lying on its back and has been named "Sleeping Giant" by the Aboriginal legends. The park affords many hiking, biking and camping areas with several lakes. We got our best view of the Sleeping Giant from the Marie Louise Lake Marina. The hike to top of the Giant is 22km rt and should only be taken by the physically fit.

We then drove to the Thunder Bay Lookout which is 9km off the main road on a gravel, but well maintained road and well worth the drive. The lookout affords a spectacular view of Thunder Bay and Lake Superior and ends atop one of the highest cliffs in Ontario.
